One thing I can confirm: Sooner or later homesickness will get you. Really, it creeps up one you starting with illusions of German food and beer or the smells of a summer evening. I never missed the language though. Sometimes I am thinking I could not have been productive had I stayed in California after 2000, the homesicknesses had killed all my professional aspirations.
